Slayer are reigning as soon as once more, because the thrash legends performed their first live performance in 5 years on Sunday evening (September twenty second) at Riot Fest in Chicago.

After kicking off with the ominous “South of Heaven,” the band instantly delved into Reign in Blood with a rendition of deep lower “Reborn” — the primary efficiency of the tune since 2014. From there, every period of Slayer was represented, highlighted by staples reminiscent of “Repentless,” “Seasons within the Abyss,” “Hell Awaits,” and “213” (for the primary time since 1998).
A closing four-song volley ended the set climatically: “Obligatory Suicide” into “Raining Blood,” “Black Magic,” and a finale of “Angel of Dying.”

The band has now formally returned to the stage after calling it quits following the aforementioned farewell tour in 2019. The lineup from that tour stays intact, that includes unique members Kerry King (guitar) and Tom Araya (vocals/bass) alongside drummer Paul Bostaph and guitarist Gary Holt. There are at the moment no plans to file new music or tour, in line with King, though he hasn’t dominated out taking part in extra choose exhibits and festivals sooner or later.
In the meantime, the guitarist concurrently launched his eponymous solo band in 2024 with the discharge of his debut From Hell I Rise. King had beforehand expressed discontent over what he referred to as a untimely retirement by Slayer, and he started engaged on his solo band shortly after the farewell tour.
