It is easy to suppose that there is not a lot else for Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym to do within the MCU past the completion of the “Ant-Man” trilogy. He has retired from Ant-Man-related actions, reunited along with his love, Janet Van Dyne, after her disappearance into the Quantum Realm, and explored the subatomic world himself. To not point out, he isn’t getting any youthful, and neither is Douglas. However, there’s extra narrative potential for the character and the actor behind him thanks to 2 main elements: time and the Multiverse.
Living proof: Within the second season of the animated sequence “What If…?”, Douglas had the chance to play a model of Pym from elsewhere within the Marvel Multiverse. Within the episode “What If…Peter Quill Attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?”, he voices an alternate timeline Pym, who’s nonetheless energetic as Ant-Man within the late Nineteen Eighties. He and King T’Chaka (Atandwa Kani), Dr. Wendy Lawson (Keri Tombazian), and Dr. Invoice “Goliath” Foster (Laurence Fishburne) type a proto-Avengers workforce to stop Ego’s (Kurt Russell) takeover of Earth via his son, Peter Quill (Mace Montgomery Miskel).
Regardless that the chances for future MCU tales that includes an animated younger Hank Pym are nearly limitless, the actual fact is, sooner or later, the live-action model should trip off into the sundown sometime. Hopefully, the character will get a conclusion Michael Douglas may be pleased with.
