Mia Farrow and Patti LuPone will come to Broadway within the new comedy, The Roommate, by Jen Silverman.
The play, directed by Jack O’Brien, will start performances on Aug. 29, with an official opening night time on Sept. 12, on the Sales space Theatre. This marks LuPone’s first return to the stage after giving up her Actors’ Fairness membership after the run of Firm resulted in 2022. Farrow was final on Broadway in 2014, in the A.R. Gurney play Love Letters.
“It’s at all times a giant determination to return to the stage, and I definitely had no intention of being again on Broadway so quick. However after I learn the play and heard Mia was hooked up, it turned the simplest determination of my life. I’ve at all times been a fan of Mia’s work and she or he is a treasured buddy. We’re going to have a blast,” LuPone mentioned.
“The Roommate is humorous, quirky and brilliantly written, and after I discovered that Patti LuPone was concerned about doing it, how may I resist? She is, in fact, a Broadway icon with out parallel and now we have been buddies for many years. It’s thrilling to be returning to Broadway,” Farrow mentioned.
Within the play, a one-act, Sharon, who has by no means had a roommate, should now navigate residing with Robyn, because the play explores the “blossoming intimacy between two girls from vastly totally different backgrounds, as they navigate the complexities of identification, morality and the promise of reinvention.”
Chris Harper is producing, with Wagner Johnson Productions as Govt Producers. The inventive workforce for The Roommate contains Bob Crowley (set & costume design), Natasha Katz (lighting design) and Mikaal Sulaiman (sound design).
