Iron Butterfly’s Founding Member & Lead Singer Was 78


Doug Ingle, the unique lead singer of the rock band Iron Butterfly, has died. He was 78.

Ingle’s son, Doug Ingle Jr., shared the information of his father’s dying on social media.

“It’s with a heavy coronary heart & nice disappointment to announce the passing of my Father Doug Ingle. Dad handed away peacefully [Friday] night [May 24] within the presence of household,” he wrote in a put up on Fb.

He continued, “Thank You Dad for being a father, instructor and buddy. Cherished loving recollections I’ll carry the remainder of my days transferring ahead on this journey of life. Love you Dad”.

Ingle was the final surviving member of Iron Butterfly’s unique lineup, which was shaped in San Diego, California, in 1966. The unique band members included Ingle, Jack Pinney on the drums, Greg Willis on the bass, and Danny Weis on the guitar.

After signing a report deal, the group’s lineup modified and now included Ingle, Ron Bushy, Lee Dorman, and Erik Brann. The band is greatest recognized for its 1968 hit “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida,” which Ingle co-authored.

Ingle would go on to co-author different hits for the band like “Soul Expertise,” Within the Time of Our Lives,” and “Simple Rider.”

The singer and founding member left the band in 1971 and would make occasional appearances with the touring band. After he left the band, Ingle had a brief sting with the group Stark Bare and the Automotive Thieves.
