EXCLUSIVE: On the heels of her directorial and writing debut with Recent Kills, SAG Award-winning actress, director and producer Jennifer Esposito has signed to direct Shake, which is written by Ryan Bianca (To Leslie).
Shake was no one when she made her title in Philly. That title was the mob boss’ woman. It introduced cash, energy and respect. Then life went to hell, and he or she vanished. Twenty years later, she’s again. However when she returns to the world she helped construct, it needs nothing to do along with her. So she’s again to the place she began: a no one. However this time Shake’s not going wherever and goals to navigates a darkish and violent world dominated by males, as she fights to get what she’s owed.
The movie is about in an analogous world as Recent Kills is impressed by character-driven ’70s crime dramas like The Killing of a Chinese language Bookie and The French connection in addition to current thrillers like Drive and Uncut Gems. Shake is produced by Kelsey Regulation (Clair de Lune) and John Finemore of Misplaced Metropolis (Watcher), with James Hoppe of Misplaced Metropolis as government producer, and Arlie Day and Mike Web page serving as co-producers.
Esposito directed, wrote and starred in Recent Kills, which opens Friday and premiered ultimately 12 months’s Tribeca Competition. She is represented by Echo Lake Leisure, WME and 42West.
