Tributes have been paid to the Indian media baron Ramoji Rao, who has died on the age of 87.
Rao, head of Ramoji Movie Metropolis and ETV Community, died on Saturday June 8 following a brief keep in hospital in Hyderabad.
Indian media stories that Telangana authorities has determined to provide the tireless businessman an official state funeral. Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi expressed his disappointment with a press release on social media:

Cheruki “Ramoji” Rao was born into village life within the Madras area of India in 1936, and went on to guide the Ramoji enterprise group, which owned the world’s largest movie manufacturing facility Ramoji Movie Metropolis in Hyderabad. His many different enterprise ventures included proudly owning the Dolphin group of motels and Mayuri Movie Distributors.
For his movie work, Rao earned 4 Filmfare Awards South, 5 Nandi Awards and the Nationwide Movie Award for his works in Telugu cinema. Eight years in the past, he obtained the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honour for his contributions to journalism, literature and schooling.
